In this course, students will explore the theme
Understanding Diverse Cultures through Literature by reading short stories from around the world and works by authors of varied backgrounds. Learners will examine figurative language, distinguish between topics and themes, and use textual evidence to support claims in analytical writing. The course also emphasizes vocabulary and grammar development to strengthen communication and deepen cultural understanding. This is the first course in a two-part Eighth-Grade English series. This course also encompasses Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
This course uses our model to give students the opportunity to develop both real-world 21st Century Skills and Social and Emotional Learning Soft Skills to develop college and career readiness.
