In this course, students explore the history of the United States from the era of industrialization to the present day. Topics include the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, U.S. imperialism, the World Wars, the Great Depression and New Deal, the Civil Rights Movement, the Cold War, and contemporary America. This course emphasizes critical historical thinking and analysis of major political, social, and economic changes in the modern era. Students will also develop skills such as essay writing, document analysis, and answering questions on key historical themes. This is the second course in a two-part series that prepares students to take the AP United States History exam.
